When this forum started, small niche forums like this were popular. Today, people spend all of their "social" time on Facebook, Youtube, etc. it's time to put the forum into archive mode. I'll keep it online. No reason to delete it.

Hopefully that contributed to why this forum has gotten dead the last couple months, meaning things will pick up again shortly.]]>false2016-06-04T16:12:53Z2016-06-04T16:13:38Zhttps://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=3223
If you have an existing thread, probably an old one, that you want moved there, just let me know.]]>false2016-02-21T17:14:21Z2016-02-21T17:14:21Zhttps://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=3195false2016-01-04T04:38:49Z2016-01-04T04:39:34Zhttps://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=3147Email me here if you do.
That's the way these things go... I get around to taking 30 mins to fix a small issue, and it turns into a day-long project that breaks everything and will require some more work to get everything going again. I'm not complaining, it's all on me, but just to give you an idea why it's sometimes many months between new additions to the site... It usually breaks stuff!]]>false2015-10-07T20:25:49Z2015-10-07T20:25:49Zhttps://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=3117
I changed that so that new users will receive those emails by default unless they deselect those options when they register.
For existing members, I don't want to mess with your settings, but you can edit your options here and change your Default Thread Subscription Mode to "Instant email notification".
Hopefully that will in a small way get people to keep coming back to the forum.]]>false2015-01-28T23:23:50Z2015-01-30T05:07:57Zhttps://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=3017
This should help keep things on track and make this forum a more welcoming environment to newbies. Anyone trying to improve themselves with methods outside the mainstream already gets plenty of flack from friends and family, and if anything this will be the one place where they will only be encouraged and helped.]]>false2014-11-13T01:16:13Z2014-11-13T01:16:13Zhttps://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=2926 https://www.facebook.com/groups/eyesightimprovement/
I think this is the most convenient to use out of all of them, and more convenient than this forum, because almost everyone is on Facebook already, it works better on mobile, and the FB Groups format is really conducive to discussion. A couple other hobbies I've been involved in have made heavy use of FB Groups, so I think it's the best medium right now.]]>false2014-10-21T23:13:38Z2014-10-21T23:13:38Zhttps://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=2869
For existing members, you can also log in to your existing forum account with your Facebook or Google account if your email address here matches. If it doesn't find an email match, it will create a new forum account.
It will tell you what personal info it is requesting from Facebook or Google, and you can select what info you want to copy over.]]>false2014-10-06T03:51:37Z2014-10-06T03:51:37Zhttps://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=2864 http://www.reddit.com/r/visiontraining
I created an Imagination Blindness page on Google Plus too, but I think the Community above is where the action is going to be.
So as you can see I'm still learning all this. I'll start promoting it on the website too, like I'm doing for Facebook. After a while we'll see what's engaging people more. For a situation like ours where there's not a ton of posts, I'm wondering whether it will work better than this forum, because it can bring in a lot of other Google Plus people. But I don't know, just speculation.]]>false2014-08-07T09:34:37Z2014-08-07T09:35:27Zhttps://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=2816 https://www.facebook.com/pages/Imaginati...008139854?
Maybe this will be better than the forum for some purposes. People just don't use forums anymore.]]>false2014-04-11T04:22:19Z2014-04-11T04:43:01Zhttps://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=2753
Nowadays this is like one of the first features any site puts up. Build an email list, they say. Blast out emails regularly to bring them back, they say. It's the easiest way to retain interested people and costs almost nothing, they say. I know, I know, But now it's finally up and running, and the emails for new blog posts are automatic, so it won't depend on me to keep the regular emails going out.
Technically I already have a thousand email addresses for forum users, but it's impolite to just add them to a list. Still, I think it would be smart if I sent a one-time email to all forum members inviting them to subscribe.

I'll probably mess with the forum soon to change the colors to match the main site.

The signatures and avatars didn't convert over. Add yours again, or a new one, and it should show up on all your old posts.
Let me know if there are any other problems!]]>false2013-11-14T15:41:06Z2013-11-14T15:41:06Zhttps://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=2463
I just launched the new website. It replaces the old site. It has been a few months in the making.
&t!-- m --&t&ta class="postlink" href="http://www.iblindness.org"&thttp://www.iblindness.org&t/a&t&t!-- m --&t
There may be some dead links here and there, so I will be watching the logs to find errors or old pages that are still appearing.
The site is basically driven by the new blog. I have added a couple longtime forum members as the first guest blog authors on the site. They will be making all kinds of posts about vision improvement. I will soon open it up to lots more members who are interested in blogging about their vision improvement progress or sharing any other thoughts about vision improvement. The site gets more traffic than any new blog you would create at Blogger or other sites, so you can get a lot of eyeballs on your posts. I will make another announcement about that when I'm ready. I'm still working out some details.
So check out the new site. You can upvote/downvote blog posts and post comments. I will add or modify features as more people get involved and as people share suggestions for what would make the site a better experience.
This forum is NOT affected and runs as a totally separate system.
I may add the live chat room (the bottom right of this page) on the rest of the site too. But the current (free) chat room was already maxing out to a full room, so for now I just have it on forum pages. With the increased traffic this new site will bring I will need to upgrade the chat room if I'm going to have it on the whole site.
Thank you everyone for being part of this great forum, and I hope this will start to make the site a more fun and useful experience and bring more people in.]]>false2013-10-02T04:10:16Z2013-10-02T04:10:16Zhttps://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=2442
The forum may be moved to new forum software that will integrate with the new site. But we won't lose all the old posts. I'm not yet sure what the effects will be. The biggest issue will probably be that any links you posted to other forum topics will no longer work.
So if you start having trouble loading pages in the coming days or weeks, it's probably because I'm working on switching things over and broke something temporarily.]]>false2013-04-29T05:36:18Z2013-04-29T05:36:18Zhttps://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=2359
So if you're subscribed to topics or forums, you shouldn't get any more false alarms of new posts in the thread or forum that end up being spambot posts.]]>false2012-11-06T05:34:33Z2012-11-06T05:34:33Zhttps://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=2234
I'll be removing the other chat room that was located at &t!-- m --&t&ta class="postlink" href="http://www.iblindness.org/chat-room.php"&thttp://www.iblindness.org/chat-room.php&t/a&t&t!-- m --&t
Edit: For now I made it available to guests too. We'll see how that goes. Also working on having the same chat room show on the rest of the site, not just the forum. S]]>false2012-01-18T03:50:09Z2012-01-18T03:50:09Zhttps://www.iblindness.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=2002
I've been a little slow at approving new posters since implementing this. So either I need to appoint a moderator to help or find a way to have it notify me so I can be quicker about approving them.]]>false
