What's New
Any major additions to the site will be posted here, so check back regularly. 6-27-2006
Due to many emails I've received by people overwhelmed and wondering where to begin, a "How to Begin" page has been added to the Introduction on the left menu.
10-9-2005
A forum has been added to the site!
8-25-2005
The new iblindness.org Store has been launched! A large amount of material has been dusted off and put up for sale, including the original unedited Better Eyesight magazines published by Dr. Bates in the 1920s.
1-6-2005
A "Method of the Week" page has been added, accessible on the left menu. Sign up to present your favorite Bates-oriented method that will appear not only on the discussion group, but on this site!
10-3-2004
Ray Gottlieb's "Neuropsychology of Myopia" article in the Article Library has been replaced with "The Psychophysiology of Nearsightedness", which is his Ph.D. dissertation that is significantly larger and more complete than the shortened article.
The above dissertation has also been noted on the Evidence page. 6-6-2004
An article by Rosemary Gaddum Gordon, "The Reptilian Brain, Dissociation and Seeing from the Core" has been added to the Article Library.
5-29-2004
A new survey is up! See the main page. Collected answers will be reported at the end of June.
The Third North American Conference on Natural Vision Improvement was a success! There's talk of holding it in New York next year... 10-10-2003
The full text of Emily Lierman's 1926 book, Stories from the Clinic, is now online! See the Online Books section.
7-21-2003
I fixed the description of Maurizio Cagnoli's article in the Article Library - for the past year it has actually shown the description for another article.
4-4-2003
W.B. MacCracken's 1937 book Use Your Own Eyes has been added to the Online Books. It's also on the Recommended Books page now.
3-25-2003
The list of books on the Recommended Books page have been cut down to just a handful. There were too many before, and I've narrowed it down to those that I feel represent the Bates Method best. More may be added in the future.
Ray Gottlieb's dissertation, "Neuropsychology of Myopia," has been split up into several pages, and the images have been reduced. 2-11-2003
Check out the new Guestbook. Sign in and let me know what's on your mind!
The "Intro to the Bates Method" article isn't really gone - it's been modified and split up into several different articles in the Introduction menu. 12-21-2002
Your Innate Power by Olive Brown has been added to the Recommended Books page.
11-27-2002
We had another good turnout for the monthly poll - 135 respondents for November. The results are pretty skewed! Click on the Poll Results link that I just added to the left menu.
Two more articles by Dr. Bates are now online in the Article Library. The first one is pretty technical and has to do with Bates's theory of accommodation. The second is about his experiments on the eyes of animals and also has some good content about vision improvement that people may find helpful: A Study of Images Reflected from the Cornea, Iris, Lens, and Sclera The Radical Cure of Errors of Refraction 11-12-2002
A new section of the site, "Where's the Evidence?", has been added to the navigation menu. It contains a collection of formal evidence for the Bates Method that I've found. There's just a few things on there so far, so please let me know if you can point me to more!
11-02-2002
The site search engine has been upgraded to use Google's database. Searches should be more flexible now.
10-30-2002
On the navigation menu there's a new item, "About the Webmaster." If you're wondering about my experience with all this, that's the place to look.
We had a record turnout for the October poll - 96 respondents. The results are, as usual, on the past poll results page. The new November poll is related to it, but should provide more interesting results. I'm running out of ideas for new questions, so please submit your ideas. Janet Goodrich's Natural Vision Improvement has been added to the Recommended Books page. 10-20-2002
A new article I just finished, "Psychological Barriers to Entry", has been added to the Article Library.
I've revised the Summary of the Bates Method (again!), this time to make it significantly shorter and more focused. With all the other information on this site, some explanations in the article are redundant. My goal with it is not to try to fit all the good of the Bates Method into a single article, but to go over what it's really about and how to approach it. The PDF of Bates's book has been replaced with a version with the pictures looking better. The old one's pictures were rough and unclear. Thanks to Nicolas for sending me it. Books by Charles Kelley, Clara Hackett, and Ethel Beswick have been added to the Recommended Books page.
The downloadable Word document of Bates's book has been replaced by a PDF (viewable with Acrobat Reader) document. It's more portable and less likely to get modified. 9-21-2002
The downloadable Word document version of Dr. Bates's book has a proper link to it now. It was previously put it in a place that most people were restricted from. That was unintentional, and you should now be able to download it fine from the Perfect Sight Without Glasses page.
9-20-2002
"New Ways to Normal Sight", an old article by by C.S. Price, has been added to the Article Library.
Several bad links and other errors, such as the nasty display glitch on the Summary of the Bates Method page, have been fixed. 9-07-2002
Launch of the newly designed Imagination Blindness at iblindness.org! As you may have noticed, the layout and navigation has changed. Major additions include the site search engine and seven more articles by Dr. Bates.
